This exciting role will provide the successful candidate with a key position in the Finance Department of a fast-paced and entrepreneurial organization. The Controller will lead a team of seven (2 direct reports, 5 indirect reports) and will lead and direct the success of the overall external reporting, compliance, payroll, and corporate taxation functions. Working closely with the CFO and Director of Finance, this role will have the responsibility to strengthen accounting guidelines and policies, improve financial reporting processes and timelines and fortify the control environment. The ideal candidate will possess a professional accounting designation coupled with a minimum of 3-5 years of public company experience, with a strong knowledge of IFRS and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements. As a key member of the Finance department, the successful candidate will possess the ability to work in an environment of rapid growth and change.  




  • Lead and direct the internal month-end financial statement close process, including all control procedures, financial accounting documentation, and general accounting and payroll functions
  • Full responsibility for the preparation of the monthly, quarterly and annual financial results, and related notes to the financial statements
  • Responsibility over Payroll and Share-based compensation.
  • Instill core accounting guidelines and policies in financial reporting and streamline the internal control environment.
  • Maintain relationship with and act as the key point of contact with external and internal auditors, including co-ordination of all work to be carried out by auditors, finance, SOX and tax consultants
  • Lead, train and develop a team of individuals in the accounting group and an Accounting Manager
  • Prepare and review changes in the balance sheet and conduct analysis of these changes on a monthly basis for senior management
  • Partner with the rest of the Finance team in enabling managerial accounting objectives
  • Review and assist in the preparation of corporate taxes, and related tax compliance filings
  • Cash management


REPORTS TO: Chief Financial Officer


  • Accounting Designation: CA
  • 5-7 years of accounting experience with 3-5 years experience in a public company environment
  • Strong working knowledge of IFRS, including hedge and tax accounting
  • Strong leadership skills with a minimum of 3 years management experience spent directly developing, coaching and mentoring a team
  • Knowledge of information systems
  • Experience in the technology sector is preferred
  • Strong hands-on working knowledge of Excel models and pivot tables
  • Excellent organization and communication skills
  • Ability to motivate a team when working under pressure and within tight time lines
  • Hands-on entrepreneurial style, as weel as a strong desire for action and results; the ability to work effectively in a highly collaborative and flat organization is ideal to fit into Points’ culture.
  • Capable of both saying No as well as guiding executives through complex accounting decisions.
